Ashanti Elie, a senior at Rocklin Whitney High in California, captured the girls high jump title with a first-attempt clearance at 5-10 (1.77m) at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis. Elie cleared only 5-5 (1.65m) in last year's state prelims and missed qualifying for the final by one spot, but she prevailed against Maria Carrillo's Alexis Hunt based on fewer attempts to secure the championship.
